On January 5, 2021, the U.S. Department of the Treasury launched the $25 billion Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) established by the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021. ERAP assists households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is a lifeline to struggling households impacted by the pandemic. State and local governments have been allocated unprecedented funding and must deploy this relief rapidly and efficiently to prevent a looming eviction crisis.

Key issues Governments need immediate case management solutions and grant management expertise for compliant and accurate program rollout and reporting to the federal government. Emergency Rental Assistance payments will be made directly to states, U.S. territories, and local governments with more than 200,000 residents, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and Indian tribes or the tribally designated housing entity of an Indian tribe, as applicable.
